26th May 2010

  • Fixed another error caused by duff links into a library from a webcrawler.

17th May 2010

  • Fixed a small bug where users couldn't browse their library if their display name was capitalised differently in their library url. Thanks to K3 for pointing it out.

  • Added the 'Library Owner' collapsable section to the browser so that you can see the owner and ask for friendship

  • Added support for twitter linking so addition to a library are tweeted to that account. See home/twitter and the blog/FAQ for more information

  • Fixed a bug when sending invites to friends. Should work correctly now.

  • Fixed a bug that prevented partial scans from being editted

  • Updated the public/private check boxes to a drop down menu to make them more clear.
  • Fixed bug where the pub/priv status of an item could not be set.
  • Fixed a bug where the edit item window could be too large for the browser window in low resolutions making it impossible to click 'save'
  • Removed the star rating system in the Edit Item dialog as it doesn't work in a dialog box :(
  • Changed the cuecuat/manual beeping pages to beep one item at a time with ajax posting of form to make it easier
  • Added code to try and work around Amazon's rate limiting of API

21st December 2009

  • Major change to the browser interface for users library. The interface is now all AJAX making it much quicker to browse libraries.
  • editing is not done within the library
  • tagging is no longer drag and drop, you click on the tag icon in the tool bar above the library
  • deleting items is also done via a button in the tool bar.
  • you can now SEARCH for items within your library. The search is based on the items title.

  • Small bug fix for database integrity error when two people try to create a tag for an item at the same time.

  • Added support for German items via Amazon.de. It's difficult for me to test this as I don't have any german items to scan but I have added some tests for German items and it all seems to work.

  • fixed small bug where after new items were beeped and add was pressed the text area loosing focus (really annoying) and the pub/share checkboxes were cleared (really really annoying)

  • Minor update to pages to made the flash message appear and fade away
  • Tabbed the home page to clean it up a little.
  • Added a BMS (Beep My Stuff) section to the home page with the old 'Getting started' section and a twitter widget to show the latest twitter things from BMS.
  • Added the twitter widget to the main landing page.

  • Bug fix for some Amazon reviews of products containing non standard Microsoft extensions to HTML (smart tags). This made pages unrenderable by BMS causing 500 exceptions
  • Cleaned up the item detail page to make it cleaner.

  • Added tagging for items. Items can be tagged and filtered by tags.
  • Added notes for items. Notes are snippets of text that you can attach to an item.
  • Fixed many bugs to do with Internet Explorer and all it's failings.

  • Added Myspace, Google and Yahoo register/login buttons to make OpenID registration a bit easier. The whole Open ID login process has been cleaned up and should be more resistant to problems (famous last words?)

  • Can view your own library and see what you have lent out.
  • Added Amazon.ca as a 'preferred amazon' in home-account settings

  • Added RSS feeds for your library and for your friends libraries combined. Look for the orange RSS icons in the 'home' section.

  • Fixed various bugs to do with unexpected amazon data. Beeping should be a little more robust now. Thanks to anyone who put up with failed beeps :)
  • Cleaner error when an OpenID user logs in with cookies disabled. Cookies are required while using Beep My Stuff.

  • Fixed a bug where private libraries were SO private even the owners of the library couldn't see the contents.... doh.

  • Fixed a bug where items WITH images but without URLs for those images (according to Amazon) would prevent users from accessing their beep page or browser their catalog
  • Fixed a bug for items from Amazon have NO binding (Paperback, Audio CD, DVD etc).

  • Fixed a bug where OpenID users would be automagically registered with invalid usernames causing an unhandled exception.

  • Fixed a bug where some items had badly formed html in their Amazon reviews. This caused an unhandled exception when beeping the item in to yout library.
  • Fixed a bug where searching for an item and asking to add it to your library would cause an unhandled exception... because the item disappeared from Amazon! Shows a nice error message now.

  • Fixed a bug that left some people's libraries unviewable. This was due to some items not having small images provided by Amazon
  • Fixed a bug where two distinct amazon items are actually the same (have the same barcode)

  • Removed the need for beta codes, anyone can register now :)
  • Added 'Title Search'. When beeping you can search amazon by title to add things to your library.

18th March 2009

  • When viewing a library in list form you can see the owners ratings for items. You can sort by their rating by clicking on the column header.
  • You can rate an item in YOUR library when looking at the item details, you no longer need to 'edit' the item.

  • added filters for viewing private/shared items. This was one of the tasks asked for in the feedback tab.

  • Flash scanner shows a graphic when a bar code has been scanned successfully
  • Flash scanner shows a cross when a barcode lookup fails and plays a negative sound. A lookup fails when Amazon doesn't know anything about the barcode. This is called a partially scanned item.
  • You can now take a photo with your attached webcam of a partially scanned item which is displayed when you edit an partially scanned item. Your list of partially scanned items appear on your home page.
  • You can take a photo of anything and set it as your avatar picture :)
